A 56-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found seriously injured in the road.

The woman is in a serious but stable condition in hospital while the suspect, from Selsey, is in custody, police said. He is known to the victim, they added. 

Emergency services were called to the B2110 Selsey Road, near the junction of St George's Drive, Chichester, at 5.15pm on Monday (January 18), to a report that a driver had hit a woman.

The driver of the Ford Ka involved, a 52-year-old man from Poole, was uninjured, Sussex Police said today.
