DETECTIVES have tracked down the car which was caught on CCTV running down a pedestrian after a the footage was viewed more than a million times.

The CCTV issued today was to try and locate the driver of a Fiat 500 involved in a hit and run in Brighton earlier this month.

The police have found the car but have not yet identified who was driving - saying they believe the Fiat had been stolen.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "It is hoped the number of people who have viewed it will help the officers to identify the driver which hit the 53-year-old man as he crossed Montague Place in the Kemptown area of Brighton on Thursday, January 14.

"The Fiat 500 has been located and is believed to have been stolen but the identity of the driver has not been established yet.

"Police are continuing to appeal to anyone with information or who was in the area at the time to get in touch on collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or 101 quoting Operation Northdown."
