A Crawley man has been charged with sexual assaults on a young boy in the 1970s.

The offences against a boy in his early teens are alleged to have taken place at the then Crawley Boys Club in London Road, and at Millard's then address in Lavington Close, Ifield, Crawley.

Barry Millard, 68, retired, of Keymer Road, Crawley, is to appear for trial at Lewes Crown Court on 18 April, charged with two counts of indecent assaults on a boy then aged between 13 and 15 in the town between 1977 and 1979.

He was committed for trial by Crawley Magistrates on 4 November last year and is currently on court bail

"The alleged offences have no connection whatsoever with a current club, or anyone working there, which is being operated on the same site as the previous Crawley Boys Club, which closed many years ago."
