Albion turned on the style tonight – to enjoy their biggest win under Chris Hughton’s management.

Anthony Knockaert, Tomer Hemed and Jamie Murphy were all on target as the Seagulls beat Brentford 3-0 at the Amex.

It was their third win on the spin and puts pressure on their promotion rivals tomorrow.

Widemen Knockaert and Murphy were outstanding for a home side who scored twice in the first half, then looked to attack on the counter in the second.

Knockaert had already gone close when he scored the 27th-minute opener with a shot across keeper David Button after Murphy had teed him up.

The second, just before half-time, was a beauty as Hemed dispatched a classic downward header from Beram Kayal’s pinpoint cross.

Murphy deserved a goal and it came in added time in the second half as he was sent clear and rolled a shot gently inside the far post.

Brentford were a threat at times in the opening quarter and David Stockdale played his part in the win when he saved an Alan Judge drive.

But the Seagulls were generally in command once ahead and could have scored more on counter raids.
