A PERSON has died in a two-car crash on a petrol station forecourt.
Police were called to reports of the collision at the Local Fuels Lewes Service Station on the A27 eastbound near Lewes at about 11am today.
At least seven police cars, vans and two ambulances attended and many were on the scene for hours afterwards. A fire crew was also called.
Sergeant Huw Watts said: “We are investigating a collision between two vehicles. One of the occupants of the cars has sadly died. No arrests have been made. One other person was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with injuries and a third person was uninjured.”
The gender of the deceased or whether they were driving has not been confirmed at this stage.
One of the cars involved in the crash was a metallic blue Toyota. The back car, believed to be left-hand-drive, was a silver Renault Kangoo.
A police officer at the scene confirmed that one car crashed into the back of the other.
