A NAKED man was spotted dicing with danger as Storm Imogen battered the county.

The risk-taker was caught on film playing with crashing waves at Saltdean as people were being warned to stay away from the sea up and down the coast.

Brian Graham, Coastguard rescue officer, said: “It is fine to go down to the sea but do not take any chances.

“We would not advise taking these risks. The wind making the sea very powerful and the undertow would pull you back out again.”

On Brighton and Hove seafront teams of coastguard officers were advising people to stay away from the sea as the waves broke over the promenade.

A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said: “There are a number of things we advise people about when bad weather hits the UK.

“We always advise people to check the weather and tidal conditions before they set out so that they can either prepare accordingly or consider whether they should be going out at all.

“Sea changes in tidal streams could make conditions worse, particularly if the wind and tide are against each other and tidal heights may hide underwater hazards.

“If you’re on the coastline, however dramatic the storm looks don’t be tempted to take pictures by putting yourself at risk.

"A dramatic photograph or a selfie is not worth risking your life for.”
