CONMEN pretended to work for the council to try to burgle elderly people, police have warned.

Two men told the elderly residents they needed to check their water supply then entered the home in Falcon Close, Crawley,at 3.10pm on Wednesday February 3.

One of the men distracted the couple while the other went into other rooms, police said, but both left after being seen by a neighbour.

They were were last seen walking south along Langley Drive, towards the A23.

The first man is described as a white, aged in his 30s, and of large build.

He was wearing a black jacket with a black winter hat with flaps on the side and possibly jeans.

The second man is also described as white, aged in his late 50s and was wearing a cream coloured hat with a red and blue pattern on and a dark jacket.

Detective Constable Gavin Percival asked for anyone with information to get in touch and advised residents to check the identification of unexpected visitors.
