A CHURCH building has been renamed after it emerged a former bishop molested a five-year-old child.
George Bell House in Chichester will now be known as 4 Canon Lane.
It comes after the church paid a settlement to a woman Bishop George Bell molested when she was five years old in the 1940s.
A spokeswoman confirmed that the plaque bearing Bell’s name had now been removed from the building and tourist signs directing visitors to George Bell House are in the process of being replaced.
A church statement did not confirm the fate of a memorial to Bell inside Chichester Cathedral.
