Level Up Human is a new podcast supported by The University of Brighton and The Wellcome Trust exploring human and animal evolution and musing about what the next important step might be for us to take.
Kat Arney and Jules Howard made up the panel hosted by Simon Watt suggested potential adaptations and why these would be important for the human race.
These were judged by Robin Ince alongside additions from the audience.
The panel were engaging and funny; the mix of science and comedy worked well, allowing detailed discussions about genetics and the limitations of human biology to be clear, engaging and accessible.
But the structure of the podcast felt a little too vague, leading up to a choice between everything discussed for what Ince would like added to the human race which felt somewhat arbitrary.
More thought into the use of game play, categories and further breaking up the podcast into clearer sections would help the conversation to be more dynamic and have more purpose.
Watt is an endearing and quick witted host who was a pleasure to watch.
With a clearer structure he would find the footholds he needs to more firmly curate and steer the conversation.
