Take a blend of Celtic roots, mix it with some classic folk tinged with indie rock and you’ve got the Noble Jacks.
The Latest Music Bar was packed for the launch of the band’s EP Gun Hill on Friday when the four-man line up delivered a high energy performance from their old and new catalogue.
It’s hard to know where to begin – the finger-picking fiddle, the country violin, the vocals, the harmonica or the powerhouse drumming.
Favourite songs from the quartet are Noble Ground and Reason To Stay but as always, the showstopper and rousing close of the set was The Blacksmith Stomp which had the whole of the audience on their feet and dancing. The boys who hail from Tunbridge Wells are committed to gigging and have recently put on shows at Molly Malone’s and the Fiddlers Elbow in Brighton.
This is an outfit that clearly loves their music.
The only criticism is that the sound may be too diverse. It’s hard to be down on commitment and this is a band to watch.
