Once Upon A Time On Something Street

Madeira Drive, Brighton, Wed to Sun, from Wednesday, June 1

AN AMBITIOUS new open air performance is taking residence in Madeira Drive this summer.

Once Upon A Time On Something Street is based around a purpose-built set 200m to the left of the Palace Pier, in a place where time makes its own rules.

The interactive experience will see the audience explore houses on the street to discover the secrets of the people who live behind the doors.

“They all have a story to tell,” says Jack White from the Something Street team.

“But you'll soon realise their stories are woven into the patchwork of the street as you begin to unpick the threads connecting them through time.”

The immersive play from Whizz Bang Productions will follow The Stammers Family through time periods ranging from the war-torn 1940s to the dawn of the swinging 1960s to the celebration of the new millennium.

Visitors will be able to ask characters questions, and find themselves part of the story.

The set will also include a food court, offering a range of street food with a sea view and a Something Beach bar which will be open from 5pm Wed to Fri, and 11am Sat/Sun to both ticketholders and members of the public.

Following its Brighton premiere the production is set to head to Bristol, Liverpool, London and Manchester.

Whizz Bang Productions is currently offering a free bottle of Prosecco on their chosen night to the first 100 people who book through their Facebook site: www.facebook.com/Once-Upon-a-Time-On-Something-Street-434758093390909/

Performances Wed to Sun, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm, plus Fri 6pm, Sat/Sun 1pm and 2pm, tickets from £12. Visit www.somethingstreet.co.uk/
