A road has been closed after a sinkhole appeared.
Authorities have closed off Mill Road, Burgess Hill.
Diversions are in place.
Engineers from West Sussex County Council are on site and about to dig a trial hole to measure the void.
A spokesman for the authority added: "Until that is done it is too early to say how deep it is."
Metrobus said its route 270 buses were being diverted via Junction Road in both directions.
