BEER mat collectors will have plenty to drink to when a festival comes to Brighton.

Tegestologists – otherwise known as beer mat collectors – will be able to enjoy the Tap Takeover craft beer festival at different pubs across the city.

The festival has joined forces with two photography organisations to host the first ever exhibition featuring pictures on beer mats.

There are ten pubs taking part in the festival and each will have a different coaster on site.

With only 500 editions of each beer mat available, collectors will have to get their skates on if they hope to nab the full set.

The three-day city centre festival starts on Friday and venues include Dead Wax Social, The Black Lion, The Mash Tun, Hope & Ruin, The North Laine Brewhouse and The Fountain Head.

More than 100 images were submitted for the exhibition via Instagram with judges Matt Martin from The Photocopy Club and MiniClick’s Jim Stephenson keen to feature more unusual ideas on the theme of Brighton life.

Subjects include clubbers, tattoos and walkers on the beach – and a shot taken by photographer Kevin Meredith of a sea swimmer holding two fishes to his eyes.
