RESIDENTS are trying to identify a dog owner whose pet killed a cat when it was off its lead.
Onlookers were horrified to see the dead cat in Stapley Road, Hove, after being chased by a brown dog just before 10am on Thursday.
They are now trying to identify the dog’s owner, described as 55 to 60, stockily built with short dark hair. He was wearing dark trousers, a blue t-shirt and a cardigan.
Owners can be fined up to £20,000 or jailed for up to six months if a dog is classed as dangerously out of control.
Ward councillor Dawn Barnett is urging anyone with information to call her on 01273 291198.
