A 40-YEAR-OLD woman has raised £1,000 for research into heart disease in memory of her father.

Helen O’Sullivan, from Eastbourne, ran the London Marathon in three hours and 49 minutes to raise the cash for the British Heart Foundation.

Her father John died at home aged 66 from a cardiac arrest, 10 years ago to the day of the marathon on Sunday.

Helen said taking part was “a huge challenge and an incredible experience”.

She added: “The atmosphere on the day was brilliant and I am proud to have been part of the Heart Runners team for such an iconic event.

“Knowing I was running for a wonderful charity made me determined to succeed. I’ve had amazing support from the Hailsham Harriers running club – it was fantastic to have everyone there cheering me on to the finish.”
