ASTROLOGER and Strictly Come Dancing star Russell Grant added extra glamour to a glittering charity ball.

The event at Floral Hall in Eastbourne was organised by the Foresters Friendly Society in aid of Alzheimer’s UK.

Those taking part donned their best suits and ball gowns to enjoy a banquet, dancing and a raffle that helped raise more than £3,000 for the charity.

The group’s president, Linda Levett nominated the charity to benefit as Alzheimer’s is a cause close to her heart, having nursed her mother who had dementia.

Grant also supports the charity, after losing his grandmother to the disease.

He said: “I had a wonderful time and I’m delighted by how much was raised for Alzheimer’s.

“I’d like to congratulate Linda for putting on a fabulous evening and for supporting the vitally important work of the charity.

“We’ve got to find a cure and I will support anything that brings that day forward.”

Mrs Levett said: “It was fantastic to be able to welcome Russell to the ball – he made the event extra special and by sharing his story, he really helped people to understand the impact dementia has on families.”
