Police officers allowed a rave to continue through the night because it was too dark to safely intervene.

Residents called police to complain about the noise of a large rave on farmland in Saddlescombe near The Dyke Golf Club at around 2.45am on Saturday.

A risk assessment was then made not to intervene because it was too dark with officers to return in the morning.

At around 9.30am more than 100 ravers were still going and it was not until 2pm that officers issued an eviction order for the partygoers to end their illegal rave.

A police spokesman said the rave was ended peacefully with no arrests.
