SIX artists have taken over a regency townhouse for two back to back days of interactive shows and installations including an inside-out piano, male centric textiles, and a mystery of a secret door.

The three-storey Angel House on Brunswick Terrace will today become the venue for production At Home by performing arts company Home Live Art.

A series of performances, interactions and installations will be littered throughout the 18th century building all designed to explore the 21st century notions of home in line with the Brighton Festival theme of home and place.

The production is hosted by artist Richard Layzell and the audience can wander through the rooms of property and enjoy close encounters with the performers in programme dubbed a "21st century salon".

Mimi Banks, co-director of Home Live Art, said: "When developing a Home Live Art project, our starting block is always a response to the context of place.

"Angel House is an exquisite example of a historical domestic space, we couldn’t have found a more inspiring venue with which to explore the Salon approach to presenting the arts: of gathering, hosting, conversation and intimacy.

"The experience will be a one-off, made unique both by our bespoke programme and the impact on the works that audience members will make in this intimate and interactive setting. We are also really excited to be presenting an ensemble of pieces that reflect as broad a spectrum of artistic disciplines as possible."

The performers include Boy Stitchers which looks at the new trend of textiles for men while both talking about and demonstrating their artistic approaches to working with textiles.

On the top floor poet Jonny Fluffypunk shares his thoughts on becoming a dad, while Sarah Nicolls presents her inside-out piano, which she is transforming into a giant ticking clock.

Seth Kriebel takes audiences on a virtual journey of the house without participants having to leave their chair, while Me And The Machine are keeping something or someone locked behind a secret door somewhere in the property.

The show runs today at 6pm and 9pm, and tomorrow at 2pm, 6pm, and 9pm, and tickets are £15.
