A MAN has died after being found face down in the water at Brighton Marina.

Brighton RNLI's volunteer crew were alerted at just after 10am following reports that a body could be seen face down just east of Brighton Marina.

Emergency services were contacted by a member of the public who reported that they could see a person face down in the water near Ovingdean.

The crew of the lifeboat were aided by paramedics who were already on scene.

The HM Coastguard helicopter from Lydd also aided the operation.

The man's body was 10m from the shore and brought on to the lifeboat.

Crew members carried out CPR whilst the lifeboat headed back to Brighton Marina.

The man was then left in the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious and there are no further details at this stage. "
