A MAN has died after collapsing as he waited at a bus stop.

Emergency services were called to the Open Market in Brighton at 1.15pm on Tuesday to reports of a medical emergency.

Three police cars, two ambulances and two paramedic cars attended to the man who had been waiting at the Open Market bus stop next to The Level.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said a man, believed to be in 70s, had possibly suffered a cardiac arrest.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Sadly attempts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful and he sadly died at the scene."

There are no suspicious circumstances.

The man's next of kin have been informed.

Bus services were diverted away from Ditchling Road around the Open Market while the incident was dealt with.
