THE police helicopter has been used in the hunt for a missing 79-year-old man.

James Johnson was last seen at his home in Meridian Road, Lewes, at 11pm on Monday (May 23).

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said Mr Johnson can be forgetful and has no mobile phone or access to a car.

He is white, 6', balding with short grey hair around the sides, a crooked shaped nose and believed to be wearing a turquoise polo shirt and dark blue trousers.

The police helicopter and officers have been searching around Lewes, Kingston, Ringmer and the surrounding area for him.

Inspector Phil Hogan, of Sussex Police, said: "We are concerned for James and ask that the public keep an eye out for him. If anyone does see him please let us know."
