A WOMAN was sexually assaulted while walking home after a night out with friends.

The victim, a 24-year-old local woman, had been out with two friends, who watched from the top of the road as she began her walk home.

She told officers she was approached by a man in Western Road, St Leonards, who pushed himself up against her before grabbing her waist and asking where she lived.

When her friends ran over to check she was OK, the suspect walked off towards Warrior Square Station. The victim was not hurt.

The man is described as mixed race, about 26, 5ft 8in and of slim build. He spoke with a deep, London accent and was wearing a dark blue or black coloured hooded top which was baggy on him. Police have released this efit.

Detective Constable Ian Dearling said: "We believe there were a number of people in Western Road at about 12.30am on Sunday, April 24, and would urge anyone who was there to contact us."
