Ed Joyce dished out more punishment on Derbyshire to put Sussex in total control of their County Championship match at Hove.
The Ireland international scored 250 at Derbyshire three weeks ago and was closing in on a second century of the season at tea.
Joyce (90 not out) found good support from Chris Nash who made 65 in an opening stand of 113 and Luke Wells who is unbeaten of 55.
Sussex will resume after tea on 216-1 looking to stretch a lead which already stands at 66 having bowled Derbyshire out for 150 in the morning.
Steve Magoffin took the final wicket when he had Ben Cotton caught behind for five to finish with figures of 4-23.
