TWO women have been injured after a herd of cows stampeded at them while they were walking their dogs.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 2.20pm this afternoon.
They were called to a field in Batemans Lane, Burwash, where the incident occurred near to the Bear Inn public house.
A Sussex Police spokesman said two women walking their dogs had been attacked by cows with calves at heel.
A spokeswoman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said one of the women had suffered serious chest injuries and had been flown by the Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Her companion was taken by road to hospital with multiple injuries.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service responded to a request from South East Coast Ambulance Service by sending a crew from Burwash and the animal rescue team from Crowborough.
They helped moved the cattle into a different field while paramedics treated their patients.
The farmer is now dealing with his cows.
