POLICE are trying to trace a man who failed to turn up at court to face trial on a charge of rape and another of sexual assault.
Adem Gokgoz, 27, a hairdresser, of Sutton Road, Eastbourne, was released on conditional bail by Hastings magistrates on May 4 after being told he was being sent for trial by a judge and jury.
However he failed to appear at Lewes Crown Court on May 26 so a warrant was issued for his arrest and he is now being actively sought by Sussex Police.
There is a possibility Gokgoz has returned to his native Turkey, but he still has business connections locally and officers want to hear from anyone who may have seen him, heard from him or know of his whereabouts.
