THIS picture captured the moment Donny Sinclair handed his son Cameron a trophy.

Father and son beam with pride - just moments later 12 year old Cameron - known as Cam - would watch in horror as his father tragically collapsed and died on the football pitch in front of him.

Friend Laurence Woolven said: "I think you'll agree it speaks louder than words about how proud Donny was to not only be part of Denton and South Heighton junior football club, but to be awarding his son the most improved player trophy for the season."

A matter of minutes after this picture was taken families watched in horror as first aiders and paramedics tried to save the 49-year-old's life after he collapsed on the pitch on Father's Day.

Parents tried to shield the children from the view of Donny fighting for his life - but Cameron would not leave his father's side.

Support for Donny's wife Vicky and their children Cameron, Katrina, nine, Tabitha, six and Brayden, four, has been flooding in.

Brighton and Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber said he was "shocked and very saddened" to read about the tragic death of the football coach and swimming teacher in The Argus.

Mr Barber is just one of hundreds of people to pledge their support to the family. He contacted The Argus to pass on the club's condolences and to invite them to the American Express Community Stadium.

He said: "Our club experienced the sudden loss of one of our own staff, Gary Townsend, last week and so we are well aware of the huge trauma and upset this causes for family, friends and colleagues.

"I can therefore only imagine how Vicky Sinclair and her four children, not least Cam, are feeling at the moment.

"Nothing we can do will bring back a husband or father but we would like to invite Vicky and the children to be our special guests at a game here at The Amex whenever they feel ready and able to join us. We would like to give Cam, his brother, sisters and his mum something to look forward to as they start to put their lives back together."

A fund was set up to help Vicky with funeral costs and other expenses and more than £4,600 had been raised last night.
