THE delights of entertainment on the sea shore are being enjoyed by thousands with the return of Brighton's Big Screen.

Even England's disappointing performance against Iceland could not wipe the smiles off viewers' faces as they watched the action on Monday via on the 40 square-metre film screen set up just east of Palace Pier.

Thousands more are expected to enjoy the 35 films, sport and other entertainment lined up for the screen until July 10.

This year viewers can also enjoy the entertainment from a double bed with duvet and pillows on the beach, thanks to sponsor Ibis hotels.

The programme includes classics such as Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman and the Blues Brothers, Clueless, Quadrophenia and Mean Girls.

The latest James Bond film, Spectre, is also being shown, as is Jaws, Pulp Fiction, the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Star Wards: The Force Awakens.

Euros and Wimbledon matches are also on the programme, with all football matches and other sports screenings free of charge.

A spokeswoman said it provided the "ultimate in open-air cinematic viewing experience," with fully licensed bar, pop-up restaurants, a seated grandstand and a VIP area with ibis double beds.

It is the fifth year open air cinema has been located on the seafront.

In its first year it was located on the beach next to the West Pier and it's first screening was the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony. Since then it has been at its new location.

In 2014 the screen was powered using recycled vegetable oil.

Already this year there have been some unique events, with legendary sports artist Paul Trevillion doing his signature drawing of football legend Pele from an elephant ahead of Wales' clash with England on June 16.

And on June 18 legendary singer Ray Lewis performed live ahead of a Dirty Dancing screening, with proceeds going to victims of the Orlando shooting massacre.
