AN AFTER-SCHOOL club is celebrating after being awarded an outstanding rating by inspectors.

The club at St Paul’s Primary School in St Nicholas Road, Brighton, was inspected by Ofsted in May this year.

Ofsted identified key strengths as leadership and management, the welcoming and friendly atmosphere, children having fun with a range of activities, children’s wellbeing and parental praise for the team and quality of care.

The club is run by the company Class of Their Own, which manages 14 in total, in Brighton, Hove, Portstlade, Shoreham, Sompting and Uckfield.

It is the second outstanding rating given to the St Paul’s club.

Director Tanya Petherick said: “It is the first time one of our clubs, which has been graded as outstanding by Ofsted, has been re-inspected.

“We believe only 10 per cent of after school clubs are graded as outstanding once – so to have received the grading twice is extremely rare.

“Providing children with exciting play opportunities whilst their parents work or study is part of our mission.

“Our whole team has put a considerable amount of effort into ensuring we meet Ofsted’s requirements, and this has been reflected in our inspections.”
