HOUSE prices are soaring in Hastings.

The seaside town is in the top ten across the country to see some of the biggest increases in properties values in the last year.

A Zoopla survey ranked it as seeing the eighth in the top ten with a 6.95 per cent increase in the last year. Houses there now have an average value of £244,955, according to the property search company's figures.

Margate was named the top hotspot among Britain's seaside towns and others along the south coast to see rises include Hayling Island.

Another top ten of the seaside towns with the highest property prices, as of July this year, listed Brighton in fifth place with an average £368,782. It beats Port Isaac in Cornwall but falls behind Lyme Regis in Dorset and number one most expensive seaside town to live - Salcombe, Devon.
