AN 18-YEAR-OLD man had part of his right ear bitten off during an attack by another man, police said.

He had gotten in his car to drive off when he was attacked in West Street, Burgess Hill, at around 11pm on Monday July 11.

His attacker also damaged the car before walking off, Sussex Police said today (Monday July 25). 

The victim went home and relatives took him to hospital. He is due to have reconstructive surgery.

Detective Constable Gilly Sadler said: "We have already conducted house-to-house enquiries but would welcome any further information about this particularly nasty assault."

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and criminal damage.

He has been bailed until September 21 pending further enquiries.
