A man has been charged in connection with a fatal hit and run.
In November of last year Robert Shepherd, 35 of High Street Buxted was hit and killed while walking on Coopers Green Road, Maresfield.
Motorist Daniel Christopher Heffer, 27, a Tarmac layer, of Ashengate Way, Five Ash Down, will appear before Brighton magistrates on August 25 to face charges relating to the collision.
Mr Heffer was charged on Sunday with being the driver of a vehicle which failed to stop after a road accident, failing to report a road accident, using a vehicle - a Volkswagen Golf - in a condition likely to cause danger of injury and possessing cannabis, a Class B controlled drug. He was further bailed to await his appearance in court.
He was released without charge on counts of causing death by driving without due care and driving while unfit through drugs.
