THREE CCTV images have been released of a man police want to speak to in connection with an attempted rape.
The man is pictured on an N25 night bus as it travelled between North Street to the Lewes Road junction with The Avenue around 1am on Thursday (July 21).
It is from there a 20-year-old woman has told police she was followed along Auckland Drive, Bevendean, shortly before 1.30am, by a man who got off the same bus.
As she reached her destination, she was pounced on. The victim screamed and the man ran off.
She was unhurt but very shaken, and nothing was stolen.
The man is described as white, 5'5", wearing a light grey hoody and dark trousers.
Detective Inspector Lee Horner of Sussex Police said: "It is still an isolated incident. There have been no previous reports of anything similar to this in the area, or indeed in Brighton recently, and we want to identify and talk to this man as we feel he may have valuable information."
Witnesses or anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images is asked to contact Sussex Police via 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 129 of July 21.
