A MAN was left with head, arm and leg injuries after being stabbed in a Kemp Town street.

Emergency services were called to Atlingworth Street in Brighton to report a man had been stabbed.

The 28-year-old had injuries to his head, arms and leg. He was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital where he was treated for serious but not life threatening injuries.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said there had been a disturbance outside a property in Freshfield Place a short while before and some of the victim's possessions had been found there. It is believed this may be linked.

Detective Constable Melanie Wauchope said: "We are trying to piece together what happened in Freshfield Place and Atlingworth Street.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in either area last night and saw anything which may help us to contact us."

The incident took place at around 8.45pm on Tuesday (August 16).

It is the second stabbing in Atlingworth Street in recent weeks.

Officers were alerted to a man who had been stabbed at 4am on July 23.

He had a small wound to his bottom and reported he had been robbed on his mobile phones, police said.

He was taken to hospital but discharged himself. He gave police a false name and address. Officers have been unable to find him to take a further statement.
