A TALENT show contestant has recorded a tribute in memory of the Shoreham Airshow crash victims.

Former The Voice contestant Dean Boroczky, known by his stage name Deano, covered Dancing In The Sky by twin sister singers Dani and Lizzy Nelson.

He originally performed the ballad at the wake of victim Mark Trussler, who died in the disaster.

He had met Mark a few months before at a barbecue.

To mark one year since the tragedy, the 27-year-old from Worthing recorded a cover of the song to the backdrop of a video depicting each of the 11 men who lost their lives.

The song, which opens with the words "Tell me what does it look like in heaven?", was picked by Dean for its lyrics.

Later it says "On earth it feels like everything good is missing since you left" and the chorus opens "I hope you're dancing in the sky".

The support worker for people with learning disabilities, said: "When I met Mark and his partner Giovanna I just thought they were a lovely couple.

"I was as affected as the rest of the community when I heard about the disaster - it was so close to home and anyone could have been involved.

"I was so sad to hear it had involved Mark. I was honoured when Giovanna asked me to perform at his wake.

"The words really touched me, I hoped they would also speak to others who listened to it. The original version is amazing.

"For the anniversary I put this online in the hope it can be a source of comfort for those remembering that day and still grieving for those who were lost.

"I was asked to perform it live at the memorial on Monday but I was really sad I couldn't because I was working.

"So I recorded a version instead."

Within hours of its release the video was viewed thousands of times.

Dean said he was amazed by the response.

He will perform the song as part of a set at The Sea House in Marine Parade, Worthing, from 3pm on Sunday.
