A WOMAN had an expensive necklace torn from her neck as she walked through town with her three young children.

She was approached by two men on a black moped without a licence, one of whom asked her the time before grabbing the necklace.

She was dragged to her knees and sustained face and knee injuries, for which she was treated in hospital.

It happened in Chatham Road at the junction with Strood Road, Silverhill, St Leonards, shortly after 2.30pm on Monday August 22.

The men rode off towards Vale Road.

The stolen jewellery is described as a long lady’s neck chain, reaching down to the stomach, made up of individual links with a gold bead in the centre of each.

It has a gold Thali on it - a small V-shaped pendant with a gold bead on the top.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Ian Dearling said: "This was a shocking attack on a mother walking home with her three children after enjoying a day out.

"We would appeal for the public's help to try to trace the two men who were seen to turn into Chatham Road on a black moped shortly before the attack."

Both men were wearing dark clothing, one with a silver grey crash helmet and the other a black helmet.
