Pupils at Cardinal Newman Catholic School have achieved the schools best ever GCSE exam results.

The number of students achieving at least 5 A*-C grades including English and Mathematics  increase five percent to 73.11%.

Some 30 students gained 10 or more A*/A grades.

The school highlighted top performers: 

  • Emma Taylor who achieved 13 A* grades at GCSE level and Pablo Cano Carciofa who achieved 13 A*/A grades.
  • Bethany Tennant, Isabel Taylor, Alexander Martindale, Emily Kowalczsk, Lucy Hatchley, Dasha Alderton all achieved 12 A*/A grades at GCSE.
  • Amelia Wetherley-Ashcroft, Jessica Tsapparelli, Isabella Roberts, Maeve Key, Daniel Karadzas, Thomas Ellis and Elena Crockett all achieved 11 A*/A grades at GCSE.

Headteacher Dr James Kilmartin said in a statement: "We are absolutely thrilled to have achieved the best GCSE results in the history of our school.

"These results reflect the commitment and the hard work of staff and students as well as the school’s high expectations and standards.

"We look forward to welcoming many of our Year 11 students back to Newman College, our Sixth Form, at the beginning of next term and to the opportunity to celebrate these fantastic results."
