THERE are now just two weeks to go until The Argus Jobs Fair 2016 being held in the heart of Brighton.

The fair will bring together training organisations, employers and employees from across the region at The Clarendon Centre in New England Street.

There will be around 25 companies present, including Brighton & Hove Buses, City College, Domestic & General, Hove College, Ladbrokes, Mears, Southdown Housing Trust, Sussex University, the Army, SE1.com and, of course, The Argus.

For exhibitors, the fair offers the chance to meet prospective employees face to face before the interview stage.

It is expected that more than 1,000 people looking for jobs will attend.

The Argus marketing executive Sophia Martin said: "If you are looking for work, or a new job, this is the perfect opportunity to meet prospective employers face to face and apply for roles in person.

"I am convinced coming along will increase your chances of being hired and boosting your career opportunities. There is a huge variety of companies attending.

"The Argus is excellent at helping people find employment thanks to years of working with recruiters and hopeful applicants."

There had been fears that the jobs industry may dip in the wake of Brexit but this has not happened.

HR Executive Brian Warren said: "Everyone has been waiting to see what will happen, but no-one has seen any changes yet.

"As soon it became obvious that nothing was going to happen for a while it was business as usual. People are putting it out of their minds.

"The jobs market was very healthy particular in Brighton and Hove before Brexit. Now everyone has realised nothing will change for at least another three years.

"I expect there will be a big push this month, especially in the digital sector with lots of companies hiring and expanding."

The event runs from 1pm until 7pm on Thursday, October 6.
