Eastbourne Eagles are throwing the kids into their biggest meetings of the season.

Tom Brennan and Jordan Jenkins, both 15, will start the Knockout Cup semi-final first leg at Cradley tomorrow with a view to keeping their places for the run-in.

Brennan replaces injured Gary Cottham at No.2 and Jenkins comes in for reserve Luke Harris.

Harris hurt his hand riding for Reading in a challenge fixture at Arlington on Saturday.

It is believed his Eastbourne place would have been under threat even without the injury.

Brennan won three out of three for opponents Weymouth in the same fixture.

Eagles chairman Martin Dugard said: “Speedway is always a gamble – but it may work for us.

“If it doesn’t, we’ve shot ourselves in the foot, haven’t we? But I don’t think we have.”

Adam Ellis won five out of five and Georgie Wood dropped a single point as Eagles triumphed 57-33 at home to King’s Lynn on Saturday.

Ellis set a new National League track record of 57.1 seconds in his second race.

He said: “I rode an engine I hadn’t ridden for a while so it was good to know it still works!”

Guest reserve Nick Laurence was delighted with his haul of 7+3 (6).

A below-strength Eastbourne side lost 52-38 at lowly Buxton yesterday.
