GOLDEN Olympic couple Jason Kenny and Laura Trott ended their month-long honeymoon touring some of Europe’s most beautiful locations by stopping off in Hastings.

The sporting power couple are the most successful in Olympic history having bagged an incredible ten golds between them.

The pair married in a private ceremony in Cheshire on September 24 before setting-off on a month-long honeymoon.

The post-nuptial tour took in St Tropez, Monaco, Nice and Lake Como as the couple took in Europe’s most romantic locations in a camper van they had loaned from leading motorhome firm Bailey of Bristol.

To cap off their first trip as man and wife, the couple popped in for a day to enjoy the sites of Hastings on returning back to the UK.

They even missed the Olympic heroes’ parades in Manchester and London last week as they took part in their self-titled “motorhomeymoon”.

Writing on Instagram, Trott, who at the age of 24 is the most successful female Olympian of all-time, said she was initially doubtful of a motorhome honeymoon when Kenny suggested it as a way of bringing their two dogs but was won over by her experience.

The couple first became an item during the 2012 Olympics in London.

A Hastings Borough Council spokesman said: "We’re delighted that Laura and Jason chose to come to Hastings as part of their tour of Europe’s most glamorous locations.

“We’re very proud of what we have to offer here, and we’re pleased that we reach Olympic gold standards.”

Hastings resident Michael Girardot told his local newspaper that he met the pair while in Hastings Old Town last Wednesday.

He said: “Both of them are like demigods in the sporting world.

“Being an ex-PE teacher I’m a sport fanatic.

“I saw them walking through the Old Town.

“I said to them they must be hounded by people a lot but they said no one really recognises them.

“They are so lovely and down-to-earth people and were happy to stop to have a picture taken with me.”
