THE inquest into the deaths of the Shoreham Airshow crash victims has been postponed again.

The hearing was due to resume on Monday with another review of the evidence.

But the West Sussex senior coroner Penelope Schofield said it had to be postponed because the police investigation was still ongoing and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch has not published its final report on the cause of the crash.

She said the decision had not been taken lightly, particularly as she was anxious to ensure that these inquests are dealt with in a timely manner, but it was anticipated that little progress could be made.

Another pre-inquest review will take place on Friday, March 17, 2017, at the new West Sussex coroner’s court in Woodfield Road, Crawley.

Video footage from the cockpit of the Hawker Hunter jet at the time of the crash was released to Sussex Police by a High Court judge in September while other evidence was withheld. This week the force told The Argus there was no update on the progress of the investigation which was still ongoing.
