POLICE were last night hunting for a shoplifter who pulled out a hand gun in a supermarket.
Officers were called to the Sainsbury's Local in South Coast Road, Peacehaven, at 8.40pm on Sunday. A man suspected of stealing alcohol threatened staff with the weapon before making his getaway. No-one was hurt.
Police searched the area after he fled in the direction of Dorothy Avenue.
A CCTV image of a suspect has been released. He is described as white, 6ft tall, aged 40 to 50, stocky and with a shaved head. He was wearing a white top, black jacket, black scarf and blue jeans with green and brown trainers with white soles. He was carrying a white plastic bag.
Police have appealed for anyone who saw the man or with any information to call 999 and ask for police. If he is seen, do not approach him.
