A TWO vehicle crash closed part of the A27 this morning.
Emergency services spent five-and-a-half hours dealing with the crash between the Polegate traffic lights and the Drusillas roundabout.
It involved a red Nissan Almera and a silver BMW 3 Series and happened shortly before 6am.
Sussex Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service were sent to the scene.
The Nissan driver was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries and two other people have been treated for minor injuries by paramedics at the scene.
The road was reopened at 11.30am.
Anyone who saw what happened is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting Operation Hayfield.
#A27 now open again following investigation work into this morning's crash at #Wilmington. Thanks for your patience.
