Chris Hughton has revealed how Uwe Huenemeier suffered another unlucky break.

The German defender is out with a broken bone in his hand suffered in training.

Huenemeier blocked a shot in a session on Saturday morning during a session for players who did not make the trip to Cardiff.

He is not available for Friday's visit of Leeds.

Hughton said: “He got the ball on the bone (near his wrist).

“As normal in the course of training there were lots of shots.

“As central defenders, you are blocking shots.

“The ball hit his hand. It was very sore at the time but he didn’t think it was too bad but overnight there was a lot of swelling “He got it X-rayed and he has got a slight fracture.

“It’s not one they can do too much about. They are not going to plate it.

“It will be a week of rest to let it settle down, then he can run and within two weeks he can play with a cast.

“It’s not one which will knock him back too much but it’s a very unusual one.”

Huenemeier missed nine months with a groin problem.

Hughton said: “He has been very unfortunate.”
