An attempted robbery was foiled by the swift action of two shopkeepers yesterday.
The two local men leapt into action when they saw a robbery underway at a jewellery shop in High Street, Rottingdean.
This picture shows a man being arrested once police arrived.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Police were called at around 2.10pm on Thursday (December 8) to report a box of rings and bangles had been taken from a jewellery shop in High Street, Rottingdean.
"A member of the public had stopped a man outside the shop and detained him until police arrival.
"Officers arrested a 40-year-old man from Brighton on suspicion of theft.
"He currently remains in custody while police enquiries continue."
