AN 87-year-old man is in critical condition after being hit by a van.
Emergency services were called after a collision between the pedestrian and a Ford transit van in Vernon Terrace, Brighton, at 7.34pm on Friday.
The elderly Hove man suffered a broken leg and head injury and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where he is in a serious condition.
The van driver, a 26-year-old man from Crawley, was uninjured.
The road with the junction of Clifton Hill was closed until 11pm until the van had been removed and an investigation carried out.
