THIS spectacular painting of Sussex is to be sold at auction next month.
It shows the Adur Valley with Shoreham at the mouth of the river.
There is also a haymaking scene and a man and dog can be seen in the foreground.
Old Shoreham and new Shoreham can be seen in the painting and there is a glimpse of Brighton in the distance.
The painting is by artist Robert Thorne Waite, who lived from 1842 to 1935.
Experts estimate it will be sold for between £1,000 and £1,500.
The work is one of two by the artist in the fine painting sale at John Nicholson’s Auctioneers in Haslemere, Surrey, on March 1.
