A YELLOW warning for strong winds - which could hit speeds of 70mph - has been issued by the Met Office.
Gusts of 50-60mph are expected to hit the county as Storm Doris arrives with a risk of winds of up to 70mph on the coast.
The fourth named storm of the year will bring even stronger winds - most likely across parts of northern England, Wales, the Midlands and later East Anglia - where short period of gusts of 70 to 80mph are likely.
It is predicted that travel services could be affected including some restrictions on bridges and disruption to ferries. Some damage to trees and buildings is also possible.
The warning is valid between 5am and 11pm on Thursday.
The Met Office's chief forecaster said: "A rapidly deepening area of low pressure, named Storm Doris, is expected to move quickly east across the UK during Thursday with strong winds on its southern and western flanks.
"Whilst there is confidence in the very windy spell, there is still some uncertainty about the track of Doris, and therefore the extent of the strongest winds."
