A DRIVER is on the run after crashing a car into a CCTV mast.

Emergency services arrived at the scene of the incident in Whitehawk Road, Brighton, to find a silver Fiat Punto left abandoned after crashing into a CCTV mast.

It happened at around 10.40pm on Thursday and left the car extensively damaged.

The mast was also damaged but did not collapse.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "The driver, described as a white man in his late 20s or early 30s, with short dark hair and wearing dark clothing, possibly a hooded top, ran off along Whitehawk Road.

"He may have sustained some injuries."
