THE devastated family of a woman missing for a year have made an emotional plea for information.

Fatima Mohamed-Ali disappeared after leaving her home in Park Drive Close, Denton, Newhaven, on February 12, 2016.

Her husband Mohamed and son Aliakbar have not seen or heard from her since and are desperate to know if she is safe.

They are calling on her to get in touch or for anyone who has any further information about her disappearance to come forward.

The last confirmed sighting of Mrs Mohamed-Ali, who was 52 when she went missing, was on CCTV footage which shows her walking from Denton Corner at 8am.

She was seen heading in the direction of Newhaven town centre.

Despite extensive inquiries, Sussex Police have been unable to trace Mrs Mohamed-Ali’s whereabouts.

Mr Mohamed said: “My family’s lives are on hold while we wait to hear any news.

Fatima has never missed my birthday and we’ve been married for 36 years.

“This is completely out of character for her.

“I would like people to think and see if they can remember seeing her as it’s a busy road.

“She may have used public transport or a taxi. I really want information about where she’s gone.”

He also appealed directly to Mrs Mohamed-Ali, saying: “Fatima, if you see this please get in touch to let us know you are OK.

“There are people who can help you.”

Sergeant Lynda Lynch said: “Fatima has been missing for more than a year.

“She had never gone missing before and she left her home without a bag, money, keys or it seems any other personal items.

“We have CCTV footage of her at Denton Corner heading in the general direction of Newhaven town centre but this is her last known movements.

“We have carried out extensive enquiries including area searches, viewed many hours of CCTV footage and investigated all the transport options she may have chosen to use.

“This is completely out of character for Fatima and her family are desperate to hear any news or about any sightings of her.

“They need answers to the many questions they have.”

Mrs Mohamed-Ali is Indian about 5ft tall, slim and has shoulder length black hair which she usually wears in a ponytail.

She also prefers to wear a traditional Indian dress under a beige coat.

Anyone with information about Mrs Mohamed-Ali’s whereabouts is urged to contact Sussex Police immediately, quoting Operation Accelerate.
