Shane Duffy is set to miss at least six weeks of Albion’s promotion push.

Boss Chris Hughton revealed the news this morning as his side prepare to face Rotherham.

Hughton said: “He's fractured his fifth metatarsal and will have an operation probably tomorrow.

"We're probably looking at a minimum of six weeks. He's a big loss."

The Irish international defender limped off just before the end of his side’s 3-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Uwe Huenemeier and Fikayo Tomori are candidates for the central defensive berth alongside Lewis Dunk at the New York Stadium.

Albion could also consider switching Bruno to the centre-back role he filled early in the season.

Whoever plays might avoid a meeting with nine-goal Rotherham striker Danny Ward, who took a blow to the head during his side’s home defeat by Aston Villa on Saturday.
